If you are renovating an older property, rewiring your house in Spain is an absolute necessity. Old wiring is not only dangerous, but it also won't support the electrical load of modern appliances like induction hobs, air conditioning units, or heat pumps.
Signs You Need a Full Rewire
- ▸Sockets without earth connections: If your sockets only have two holes without the metal earth pins, your installation is severely outdated and unsafe.
- ▸Frequent tripping of the circuit breaker: A clear sign that your current wiring cannot handle your daily electrical demand.
- ▸Outdated fuse boxes: If your electrical panel still uses old ceramic fuses instead of modern RCDs (differentials) and MCBs, it must be replaced immediately to comply with Spanish law.
- ▸Cloth-covered or rigid cables: These degrade over time, losing their insulation and becoming a major fire hazard.
